English ciders
English ciders
Great Britain is probably the cradle of cider and today also the largest consumer of cider per person. The largest areas of English cider production are Devon, Somerset and Herefordshire. Some producers use imported pressed apple juice to make cider, but English producers in most cases use quality ciders from local traditional apple varieties and traditional established production methods. While today's ciders are bright and sparkling, traditional English ciders were thick, dark, cloudy with a higher alcohol content. Cider is made in England only from apples and by traditional methods.
