A purely natural product made from the pure fermentation of spring honeys with a dominance of hawthorn, acacia and rape honey. Its slightly bitter taste is created by adding pollen to the yeast. The honey in the fermentation solution is not heated, which guarantees the preservation of the health-promoting substances contained in the honey.
It can be served chilled or heated. It can be flavored as desired, for example with cinnamon.

mead: Mead is an alcoholic beverage fermented from honey and water, with possibility of addition of other ingredients such as spices or herbs or in combination with fruit juices.

Classical mead: Classical mead is made by fermenting honey and water without any other ingrediences. It keeps its original honey flavour and taste.

Blossom honey or nectar comes from the nectar of various flowers.

Mead are therefore spring flower honey.

This mead was made cold. This means that during its production, the honey was not heated above 40-45 °C, which is the normal temperature in nature to which honey is resistant. At higher temperatures, some precious components of honey can be damaged and degraded. Cold-made mead is the best choice.

This mead is suitable for heating, but we recommend always keeping the maximum heating temperature to approx. 50-55 ° C. At higher temperatures, the precious components of honey could be damaged. For heating, we recommend sweeter and more pronounced mead, especially those with the addition of spices or herbs, the aroma of which pleasantly emerges when heated. However, you can taste the mead according to your wishes, as well as mulled wine.

Meadery from Primdské podhradi with a tradition since 2002.

Mr. Svítek has long experience with his own beekeeping production and quality processing of beekeeping products since 1970. However, the production of mead started only in 2000 and is now produced mainly from flower honey from his own hives.
The production process takes place in a natural so-called "cold way", which means that the mead is not heated. Thanks to this natural fermentation process, "Medovina z Podhradí" retains all the beneficial substances contained in both honey and herbs, which are added to some species. Alcohol (14%) is formed spontaneously during the fermentation process from honey and therefore it is not necessary to add any refined sugar or fortify the final product. The high quality of mead is due not only to the slow fermentation process (lasting weeks), but also to the subsequent aging of several years.

Mead is one of our less sweet drinks and it is recommended to be served chilled. For heating are best variants with cinnamon or herbal.
