The medieval recipe of added spice gives this mead balanced taste proven for centuries.

This mead was made according to the medieval recipes for the production of mead. Thanks to it you can drink it cold and warm.

mead

Mead is an alcoholic beverage fermented from honey and water, with possibility of addition of other ingredients such as spices or herbs or in combination with fruit juices.

Metheglin

Metheglin is a type of mead with added (maturated) spices and herbs.

Type of honey

Blossom honey or nectar comes from the nectar of various flowers.

Production process

This mead was made cold. This means that during its production, the honey was not heated above 40-45 °C, which is the normal temperature in nature to which honey is resistant. At higher temperatures, some precious components of honey can be damaged and degraded. Cold-made mead is the best choice.

This mead is suitable for heating, but we recommend always keeping the maximum heating temperature to approx. 50-55 ° C. At higher temperatures, the precious components of honey could be damaged. For heating, we recommend sweeter and more pronounced mead, especially those with the addition of spices or herbs, the aroma of which pleasantly emerges when heated. However, you can taste the mead according to your wishes, as well as mulled wine.

Producer Radomir Dvorak

Radomir Dvorak meadery specialized in semi-sweet mead with delicious combinations of spices. The best metheglin in 2017 in Czech republic.

Radomír Dvořák professionally continues the previous production of Luženská mead. Already in the first years, he enriched the offer with new types, in addition to the metheglines based on the original recipes, we have both species and fruit meads on offer.

Mr. Dvořák emphasizes that he keeps bees and produces mead differently. Simply without chemicals, sugar, alcohol, aromas and dyes, without cooking, cold. You mix it, you ferment it, you twist it, you drink it... It tastes good! That sounds good and it's true. Everyone can convince themselves of this with a cup of his mead.

Mr. PaedDr taught him beekeeping. Vladimir Slanař. He processes the honey with the greatest care. Mead is made by old people. According to the recipes of Mgr. Eva Slanařová. Own honey, spices, water, yeast.

Meads from the Dvořák Brewery are very popular here at the Mead House. The original recipes enjoy long-term interest from customers: castle - now Křivoklátské honey wine, delicate - now Honey wine, or holiday or hop wine.

A novelty and specialty from 2020 are meads made from different types of honey: linden and sunflower. The offer was supplemented by several types of fruit mead, where dried fruit is used (arrows, rowanberries, etc.)

We recommend buying the whole collection because each mead is worth it for your taste buds to enjoy :)
