This Belgian Braggot mead is based on a sweet traditional sunflower honey mead and a thick (sooo thick…) stout. The two are combined and matured in a Jamaican rum barrel.
Finally! After much fantasizing, we've made it happen. Gio from Galea Craft Beers and Gert from The Blacksmith's Meadery have joined forces.
The result is a velvety braggot that puts the roasted aspect of the dark malts and the subtle rum notes (vanilla, a touch of tropical fruit and a touch of cinnamon) in a nice counterpoint to the rich aroma of the sunflower honey that was used to make the mead.

Type of honey
Blossom honey or nectar comes from the nectar of various flowers.
Mead made from honey and sunflower late broods.
Production process
This mead was made cold. This means that during its production, the honey was not heated above 40-45 °C, which is the normal temperature in nature to which honey is resistant. At higher temperatures, some precious components of honey can be damaged and degraded. Cold-made mead is the best choice.
